Cascara Sagrada promotes healthy bowel action and has been known to heal the entire alimentary canal, cleansing the liver and gall bladder, and stimulating the secretions of the stomach, liver, pancreas, and lower bowel. It is most beneficial to the gallbladder ducts. Cascara is prominently used as a laxative which produces large, soft and painless evacuations. After using for an extended period of time (consult your qualified health care practitioner), the bowels will generally function as nature intended due to its tonic effect on the bowel. To prevent griping the herb can be mixed with a carminative herb such as ginger, peppermint or fennel.
Not recommended for pregnant or lactating women, children under twelve years of age, or in cases of inflammation, obstructions or diseases of the digestive tract without first consulting with your physician. Do not use over 8 consecutive days without consulting your health care provider.
